Dr Glenn Bryan - Retirement

The PCN Action Scotland group would like to say goodbye to Dr Glenn Bryan upon his retirement. Dr Bryan was the lead of the potato genetics and breeding group at the James Hutton Institute and had a successful career in genetics of not just plants but animals too! The team would like to say a big thank you to Dr Bryan for all his hard work as the lead of work package 4: Dihaploid induction for accelerated crop improvement.

Barnyards Open Day 2023!

Barnyards Farm in Tannadice (Forfar) will once again be opening its door to facilitate a day of discussions about PCN (Potato cyst nematode).
The open day will be held on Tuesday the 22nd of August between 11-3pm.

The Vegetable Farmer, a magazine for the UK field vegetable and outdoor salads industry published an article on the PCN Action Scotland open day held in August.

PCN Action Scotland at AAB meeting

John Jones will be discussing the project at an AAB Nematology Conference in December.

PCN Action Scotland Open Day

PCN Action Scotland will be holding an Open Day on Tuesday 16th August 2022 in Angus. Come along and see PCN resistant varieties and hear from project members and others about different areas relating to PCN including resistance, tolerance, groundkeeper control and integrated pest management.

PCN Action Scotland at Plant Health Centre Conference

Dr Philip Burgess, scottishpotatoes.org and Work Package 8 Leader, gave a presentation about PCN Action Scotland at the Plant Health Centre Conference on the 1st June 2022. The presentation covered key facts about PCN, the spread of PCN in Scotland and the main recommendations from the Working Group which led to this project.
