Barnyards Open Day 2023!

Barnyards Farm in Tannadice (Forfar) will once again be opening its door to facilitate a day of discussions about PCN (Potato cyst nematode).  The open day will be held on Tuesday the 22nd of August between 11-3pm

There will be two sessions throughout the day: morning (11-12:30pm) or afternoon (1:30-3pm), with lunch provided. For each session there shall be a tour around the trial site, discussions on the current state of PCN in Scotland, and updates from invited speakers (members of PCN Action Scotland Group) on research being done in the field. This year’s trials include replication and expansion of variety testing. Detailing differences in resistance, tolerance, and impact of both Nemathorin and Velum prime. There will also be discussions on cover and trap cropping practices, alternatives to chemical applications for control of PCN, and landlord proactivity when renting out fields for potato growth.
